If you remember when high jumpers went over the bar feet first, you’re probably a half century old. At the 1968 Olympics Dick Fosbury, an Oregon State University senior, stunned the spectators by leaving the ground and tuning his back to the bar before clearing it and setting an Olympic record. Yet Fosbury was not an exceptional athlete, he just thought outside the box. Many high jumpers eclipsed his record using his model. Perhaps it is time we chiropractors begin to think outside the box and present chiropractic in a different way as opposed to the traditional “chiropractic gets sick people well’ model.
