Cause and Effect

1

Contingent-dependent on something else.

Necessary-an indispensable item.

In discussing the principle of cause and effect, you cannot help but address these two words. The first issue that would have to be considered is that there must be a causeless cause. All religions have established that causeless cause as God except the evolutionists who maintain that life had no cause). Some chiropractors have tried to equate universal intelligence  with God in order to solve that issue (chiropractors from BJ, RWS on down). For a number of reasons this does not work. What we say is that God is a theological issue, outside the realm of chiropractic philosophy, a causeless Cause and accepted by faith. We accept universal intelligence as a major premise and do not conjecture its cause. One who accepts the Judeo-Christian faith says that universal intelligence is contingent, dependent on the necessary Creator of the Law of Organization. The real chiropractic philosophical question is whether innate intelligence is necessary or contingent. I support BJ’s position that innate intelligence is part of universal intelligence and is dependent upon it. Without universal intelligence there would be no universal forces to be adapted in order to become innate forces. Innate forces are merely adapted universal forces. That answers our philosophical question.

Practical considerations must be addressed on the contingent/ necessary level. There are two practical considerations:

  1. Our objective. The objective of chiropractic as I see it is to correct vertebral subluxations (actually aid in the correction of VS) in order that the innate intelligence of the body can be more fully expressed. That meets the “necessary.” Whatever else you think a person needs, supplied by a chiropractor or anyone else, they need to have a good nerve supply. That’s a necessity. Whether they need medical care, hot packs or ultrasound, a good nerve supply is a necessity to get “well” or be alive.
  2. Chiropractic as our area of interest. If correcting vertebral subluxations is our area of interest that makes chiropractic no better or worse than anything else. It leaves the door open to do anything else in addition to or instead of correcting vertebral subluxations. There are many legitimate areas of interest (and I think chiropractors have endeavored to try incorporating just about all of them into chiropractic-granted they’re still working on the drug prescription issue) I think we can and should make a determination as to the value of areas of interest. For me the greatest value is correcting vertebral subluxations.
  3. Getting sick people well. Correcting vertebral subluxation is an “indispensable item”. There is no alternative. Disease is not caused by vertebral subluxation. The inability to fully express the innate intelligence of the body, DIS-EASE-yes, disease- no. There are people who have never been to a chiropractor have no disease but have VS. The pseudo chiropractic objective, getting sick people well is contingent, it depends upon something else, germs, genetics, diet, the environment, limitations of matter. The true  chiropractic is not about getting sick people well, just about that which is interfering with life, the expression of intelligence through matter. That is a necessity.

    Joseph,

Thank you for this post! It is a necessity and it is contingent upon the 33 principles of chiropractic’s basic science.

In the last three years, COTB has lead the way in refining the philosophy through a thorough understanding of the 33 principles of chiropractic’s basic science. We understand, that principle 2 is about existence (universal life) and NOT life (as in being ALIVE). For example, the e/matter of a corpse will ALWAYS be maintained in existence even when it is broken down to a handful of dust 1000 years after its burial with exactly the same number of electrons, protons and neutrons (without specific configuration and velocities of its previous structural e/matter as a body that was ALIVE for a while 1000 years before). VS has NOTHING to do with existence. VS is about an interference between brain cell e/matter that is ALIVE and tissue cell e/matter that is ALIVE. VS is an interference between e/matter and e/matter within a LIVING vertebrata… and I know that you know that! Why then do you post: “The objective of chiropractic as I see it is to correct vertebral subluxations (actually aid in the correction of VS) in order that the innate intelligence of the body can be more fully expressed.”??? Three years ago we both expressed ourselves that way and it was fine then. Today, it is OUR understanding that it is the innate FORCES of the innate intelligence of the body that can be more fully expressed… do we not? I think it’s time that our communication of the message be simplified by removing any potential confusion in building the foundational platform of the building blocks of the UNDERSTANDING OF CHIROPRACTIC to those WHO choose to listen and learn. Otherwise, if a block or brick is out of “plumb” at the foundation, some of the building may collapse later in the mind of some those WHO choose to listen and learn from COTB. Also, principle 13 does clarify this issue. Principle 13 states: “THE FUNCTION OF MATTER IS TO EXPRESS FORCE”. Principle 13 is about the function of e/matter which is about the expression of FORCE, and NOT intelligence. This is such an important principle to apply in order to be congruent within the philosophy. –

    – To be consistent all the way through, it is the “inability to fully express the innate FORCES of the intelligence of the body, DIS-EASE-yes, disease- no.” Therefore, the “true chiropractic is not about getting sick people well, just about that which is interfering with life, the expression of INNATE FORCE through matter. That is a necessity.” The expression of intelligence through e/matter is about existence (universal life) in principle 2, and NOT life as “being ALIVE. –

    – As ALWAYS, your insights from your opening post are brilliant and a cause for deep integration for those WHO choose to practice the chiropractic objective. 🙂
